Jonathan Wirthlin

Jonathan is the managing principal of the LA-OC Region and a licensed structural engineer. The LA-OC Region includes the Encino, Downtown Los Angeles, and Orange County offices. Jon has a friendly and collaborative management style with a focus on maintaining Coffman’s core culture of diversity, equity, and life work balance. Jon’s management philosophy is to “play the long game” because he believes that sustainable growth is achieved through sound decision making and maintaining successful relationships.

Jon has broad structural design experience that includes schools, hospitals, commercial office buildings, retail buildings, and multi-family residential structures of steel, concrete, concrete masonry, light gauge framing, and wood. Jon has developed a niche in seismic retrofits, acute care hospitals, and battery storage facilities projects.

As a project manager, Jon specializes in providing leadership that engages multiple disciplines to produce well coordinated projects on time. His “secret” is prioritizing constant and clear communication with the client and team members. This approach has proven to help the entire design team understand each participant’s perspective, systems, and needs throughout the process.
