Robert is a fire protection engineering department manager in the Honolulu office. He works primarily on Federal Government projects in Hawaii, Guam, Japan, and across the Pacific region. Robert specializes in the design of fire protection systems for military, state, and commercial facilities. He performs hydraulic calculations, voltage drop calculations, fire alarm audibility calculations, and fire hydrant flow tests. Design duties include the following: wet pipe and preaction sprinkler systems, rack storage fire suppression systems, aqueous film forming foam (AFFF) suppression systems, highrise fire suppression systems, CO2 & FM200 systems, and fire alarm systems. He is also responsible for Construction Quality Control for Fire Protection Engineering (QCFPE) systems for Pacific Division, Naval Facilities Engineering Command projects.
Robert reviews fire sprinkler and fire alarm shop drawings, writes specifications, inspects fire protection systems, and provides construction quality control. Evaluations include existing buildings for code compliance, new building designs for code compliance, existing housing facilities for compliance with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 101 & UBC requirements.
