Principal, Corrosion Control Engineering at Coffman Engineers

Tyler is a corrosion control engineering principal in the Bozeman office and manages corrosion services in the Rocky Mountain Region and continental United States. Tyler is a graduate of the University of Idaho where he earned a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering. He joined Coffman’s Anchorage office in 2006 as a seasonal corrosion control technician and began working full time in 2010 for clients in Alaska, Hawaii, and the Rocky Mountain region. In 2015, Tyler relocated to Montana to manage the corrosion department for the new Bozeman office.

Tyler’s extensive field experience allows him to understand what it takes to complete a project from start to finish and is a trusted project manager by clients and peers. He has built strong relationships with many existing and new clients throughout the United States through his hands on approach and commitment to high quality services.

Tyler has experience in multiple areas of corrosion control and mechanical integrity including cathodic protection, internal corrosion, protective coatings, material selection, forensic analysis, and direct assessment of various assets including pipelines, facility piping, storage tanks, marine structures. He is technically competent in cathodic protection design, construction support, and testing. Specific experience includes the design of impressed current and galvanic cathodic protection systems, annual surveys, close interval surveys, coating condition assessments, exothermic welding, and multiple areas of CP troubleshooting involving AC and DC stray current interference, shorted casings, rectifiers, and belowground shorts. He is routinely involved with ECDA, in-line inspections, direct examinations, integrity data analysis, risk assessments, state and federal regulatory audits, technical reporting, and project management.
