Sam Stier

Sam Stier is an accomplished professional in the fields of education, sustainable design, and environmental policy. As the Founding Director of The Center for Learning with Nature since January 2013, Stier has developed educational materials and professional development resources that have reached educators in 71 countries and 46 states in the U.S. Concurrently, Stier serves as faculty in the Sustainability Program at Otis College of Art and Design, co-teaching a course focused on sustainable design issues. Stier is also a textbook and book author, having written "Bioinspired Design for Engineers" and "Engineering Education for the Next Generation: A Nature-Inspired Approach." In addition to roles at Texas Tech University, Stier has held various positions in environmental education and impact assessment, including a fellowship with the National Science Foundation and consulting for the World Bank. Stier holds a Master's degree in Natural Resource Conservation from the University of Montana and a Bachelor's degree in Communications from Brown University.
