Martin Schaffer is a seasoned professional in optical engineering and 3D metrology with extensive experience across multiple companies. Currently serving as Senior Group Manager of 3D Vision Engineering at Cognex Corporation since November 2016, Martin leads a team focused on 3D snapshot sensors and vision-guided robotic item handling. Prior to this role, Martin was the CEO of EnShape GmbH, where expertise was leveraged to advance unique 3D sensing technology from research to market-ready products. Martin's career began with research at the Institute of Applied Optics, culminating in a PhD in Physics, and includes significant roles in optical measurement as a Test Engineer at Grintech GmbH and as an R&D Engineer at Micro-Epsilon Optronik. Martin holds a Diplom in Physics and a Vordiplom from Friedrich Schiller University Jena and Technische Universität Dresden, respectively.
