CogniTrainer brings together clinical expertise and cutting-edge technology to transform how social workers are trained. Co-founded by Dr. S. Emile Rutherford, PsyD, HSPP (clinical psychologist with over a decade of experience training and supervising clinicians) and Michael Glowik (technologist specializing in AI, machine learning, and immersive technologies), we support BSW and MSW programs in preparing students for real-world practice. 

Our virtual practice environment allows students and trainees opportunities to utilize applied skills in low stakes simulations to gain confidence and competence. Feedback systems analyze student performance using best-practice standards to provide students and educators with comprehensive guidance for continued practice. 

What We Offer:

Virtual Practice Environments for BSW and MSW – Foundational and specialized learning modules contain lessons including foundational communication and intervention skills, trauma-informed care, suicide risk assessment, measurement-based care assessment, and advanced clinical techniques. 

Advanced Analytics & Feedback – Each simulation includes an analytics engine that reviews transcripts and delivers targeted, actionable feedback. Our fidelity monitoring tools assess evidence-based practices, trauma-informed approaches, and core social work competencies.

Collaborative Faculty Development – We work directly with social work faculty to develop and align simulations with CSWE EPAS competencies for both BSW and MSW levels through iterative testing and refinement. Customization options are available.
