Riaz Moola's work experience starts in 2012 when they founded and became the CEO of HyperionDev, a leading coding education institution. In 2014, they worked as a Technology Analyst & Developer at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. In 2015, they interned at Google as an Associate Product Manager, where they worked on contextual and voice search features. In 2017, Riaz served as the Chief Technical Adviser at Injini, Africa's first edtech incubator, and also worked as a consultant CTO to eight edtech startups. In 2018, they founded and became the CEO of CoGrammar, a tech company dedicated to closing the global tech skills gap. CoGrammar won first prize in Facebook's Innovation Challenge and has support from Facebook, Google, and the University of Cambridge. Riaz also has research experience, having worked at the University of Edinburgh on virus evolution and at the University of Oxford on RNA secondary structure prediction. Additionally, they have experience as a Software Consultant for the BFI Literacy Project and as a Research Assistant at the South African Medical Research Council's Bioinformatics Research Division. Riaz's programming skills include Python, Django, HTML, CSS, JavaScript (D3, JQuery), R, and PHP.
Riaz Moola's education history begins with a National Senior Certificate from Eden College Durban/Crawford College Durban in 2009. This certificate covered subjects such as English, Afrikaans, Maths, Biology, Physics, IT, LO, and Maths.
In 2010, Riaz attended the University of KwaZulu-Natal, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Mathematics, which they completed in 2011. During their time at the university, they also participated in an undergraduate exchange program at Keele University, studying Computer Science for a brief period in 2011.
In 2011, Riaz continued their studies at The University of Edinburgh, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence from 2011 to 2014.
In 2012, Riaz participated in another undergraduate exchange program, this time at the University of Pennsylvania. Riaz studied Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence until 2013.
In 2013, Riaz attended the University of Oxford for a summer school program in Computational Biology.
Riaz then returned to the University of Cambridge, where they completed two Master of Philosophy degrees. The first was in Advanced Computer Science from 2014 to 2015, and the second was in Technology Policy from 2015 to 2016.
