Throughout his career at Owens Illinois, he held various positions including Plant Manager of four plants; Vice President & Area Manufacturing Manager for eight plants; Vice President and General Manager of West Coast Operations (eight plants and four sales offices); Vice President Manufacturing, North America; Vice President (O-I) International Operations and Technical Assistance and Licensing; Vice President (O-I) Corporate Technology and Machine Manufacturing; Vice President (O-I) General Manager, North America; and Vice President (O-I) Global Human Resources. Mr. Smith retired from Owens Illinois in 2004.
