Ian Rooney

Ian Rooney currently serves as the Head of Central Compliance at Coinbase since March 2021. Prior to this role, Ian held several key positions at Morgan Stanley from June 2011 to March 2021, including Managing Director and Head of Global Financial Crimes Infrastructure, where oversight of anti-money laundering and related compliance programs was a primary responsibility. Ian also contributed as Managing Director, Head of Global Financial Crimes Strategy, and Executive Director in various roles focused on enhancing global financial crimes initiatives. Ian's legal experience includes working as an Associate at Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP, representing corporate clients in regulatory matters, and serving as a Law Clerk for Hon. James R. Zazzali in the Supreme Court of New Jersey. Ian Rooney holds a Doctor of Law (JD) from Georgetown Law and a B.A. in Political Science from Rutgers University.
