Ryan Au

Ryan Au serves as the Director of Global Tax Compliance, Planning, and Audit at Coinbase since May 2021, following a role as Senior Tax Counsel. Prior experience includes positions at Shearman & Sterling LLP from May 2016 to May 2021, where Ryan held the titles of Counsel and Associate in the Tax Practice, and at Sidley Austin as an Associate in the Tax Practice from June 2012 to April 2016. Earlier internships at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas and various roles at Siemens Corporation provided foundational experience in legal and tax matters. Ryan Au obtained an LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law, a Juris Doctor from Washington and Lee University, and a Bachelor of Science in Economics with a focus on Financial Economics from Vanderbilt University.
