Thomas Tupper has been in the software engineering industry for over 25 years. Thomas began their career in 1996 as a Research Scientist for the Center for Technology Innovations in Education, where they were responsible for leading user interface design efforts for a networked eLearning system. In 1999, they moved to StorageTek as a Senior Human Factors Engineer, where they were responsible for user interface design for an enterprise scale storage virtualization system. In 2002, they joined Zenith Insurance Company as a User Experience Lead, where they were responsible for user interface design for a next generation corporate claims processing system. In 2003, they joined The Toro Company as a Senior Usability Analyst, where they conducted usability studies and made recommendations for improvements and modifications based on the results of usability evaluation. Also in 2003, they joined Patient Care Technology Systems Limited as a Senior Usability / UI Architect, where they were responsible for UI design, prototyping, and UI development for enterprise class healthcare systems. In 2011, they joined Awarepoint (Powered by CenTrak) as a Senior Software Architect - UI / UX, where they created a common client layer software architecture for the platform, consisting of modular, reusable, object based UI components to drive consistent user experience across every application built on the platform. In 2018, they joined projekt202 as a Senior UI Developer and UI Developer. In 2012, they founded UX Design Associates / Awesome Software Inc. In 2021, they joined Coinme as a Lead Principal Software Engineer, Principal Software Engineer, and Sr. Engineer - Web Applications.
Thomas Tupper has a diverse educational background, having studied Design, Psychology (Cognitive and Experimental), Computer Science, and Usability, Computational Support for Learning and Performance. Thomas earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Design from Iowa State University and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Psychology (Cognitive and Experimental) from the same institution. Thomas also attended the University of Iowa to study Design and Computer Science. Thomas went on to obtain a M.Ed. in Psychology from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a PhD (absent dissertation) in Psychology, Usability, Computational Support for Learning and Performance from the same university.
