Collaborative for Children
Darnetta D. Nelson is currently the Volunteer & Communications Coordinator at Collaborative for Children since October 2022, after serving as a Senior Administrative Services Coordinator. Prior experience includes the role of Member Experience Program Manager at YMCA of Greater Houston from May 2015 to August 2022, where responsibilities encompassed managing sales calls and restructuring programming to enhance membership. Darnetta previously worked as a Program Assistant for Jazz Education, Inc., providing support for youth music programming and community outreach. Other notable roles include Program Coordinator for Acting Up Studios and Black Box Theatre Group, focusing on youth programming and community arts. As a Planner at Roberta F. Burroughs & Associates, Darnetta contributed to urban and community planning projects. Darnetta holds a Master’s in Community Development and a Bachelor's degree in History and English from Prairie View A&M University.
