Lead Sr Mechanical Engineer at Collaborative Robotics

Alan Baird has a diverse work experience in mechanical engineering roles. Alan started their career at The Nassal Company as a Project Engineer Intern, where they assisted in bid packages, estimates, and schedules for large-scale projects. Alan also performed cost analysis and created a construction site safety manual.

After that, Alan worked at 5D COMPOSITE INC. as a Mechanical Engineer, where they led prototyping and designed fiberglass resin molds. Alan also constructed compressed natural gas tanks and composite shell railway tie prototypes for testing purposes.

Alan then joined Newell Brands as a Test Engineer, where they led a team supporting testing for various product categories. Alan flexibly worked with different teams to meet engineering, design, marketing, and manufacturing needs.

Alan'snext position was at Amazon as a Hardware Engineer, Validation & Test, where they were involved in the assembly, bring-up, and on-call support of prototype robots for autonomy and navigation research. Alan also designed and supported the deployment of "Sensor Pods" in multiple US cities.

At Amazon Global Robotics, Alan worked as a Mechanical Engineer, contributing to the Unattended Delivery Program design. Alan owned the design of a mechanically actuated door with a spring tensioned conveyor belt and weatherproofing features. Alan also provided on-call support for the field operations of 10 robot pilots.

Currently, Alan is employed at Collaborative Robotics as a Mechanical Engineer.

Alan Baird completed their education at the University of Florida from 2008 to 2013, earning a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical Engineering. In addition, they obtained various certifications including "Cert Prep: Certified SOLIDWORKS Associate" from LinkedIn in August 2022, "Certified SolidWorks Associate" from Solidworks in August 2022, and "Beating Procrastination" from LinkedIn in January 2022.
