John Samels

John Samels has a diverse work experience in the field of art direction, graphic design, and music production. John started their career in 2009 at desk-2.com, where they worked as a graphic designer, art director, and music producer. John then went on to work as a freelance art director and graphic designer for Translation LLC, VICE Media, McCann New York, VH-1, DigitasLBi_US, Viacom, and J. Walter Thompson Worldwide. John also held the position of a creative director at Colossal Media since 2021. Overall, John has a strong background in art direction and graphic design, with expertise in music production as well.

John Samels attended the Perpich Center for Arts Education from 1996 to 1999, where they earned a degree in Media Arts with a focus on Photography, Film, and Animation. John then went on to attend the Minneapolis College of Art and Design from 1999 to 2003, earning their Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Graphic Design and Interactive Multimedia. In 2016, they also participated in the Typography Summer School, focusing on Graphic Design.
