Michael Abrams, Ph.D. has extensive work experience in the field of genome engineering and research. Michael is currently the Head of Genome Engineering at Colossal Biosciences, where they lead the Mammoth team. Before this role, they worked as a Scientist in the same department at Colossal Biosciences. Prior to joining Colossal Biosciences, Michael served as a Postdoctoral Researcher at UT Southwestern Medical Center, where they focused on CRISPR Cas9 genome editing technology and investigated the role of interferon and cholesterol in bacterial and viral infection of human cells. Michael also worked as a Ph.D. Student at UT Southwestern Medical Center, where they established CRISPR Cas9 genome editing technology and constructed a lentiviral library. Additionally, Michael gained research experience as an Undergraduate Student Researcher at Howard Hughes Medical Institute and as an Instructional Student Assistant at San Jose State University.

Michael Abrams, Ph.D. obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Molecular Microbiology from UT Southwestern Medical Center between 2013 and 2020. Prior to that, they completed their undergraduate studies in Molecular Biology at San Jose State University from 2008 to 2012.
