Benjamin Thornbloom has worked in a variety of roles since 2016. Benjamin began their career at Philmont Scout Ranch as a Ranger in 2016, where they guided crews of participants on their first few days in the Philmont backcountry, developed leadership, conflict resolution, and communication skills within the youth leadership of the crew, and educated crews in appropriate emergency preparedness, outdoor skills, and wilderness ethics. In 2018, they worked as an Undergraduate Lab Teaching Assistant at the Georgia Institute of Technology - School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, where they held lab hours, verified students' completion of the steps in the lab assignments, and assisted students in debugging code and troubleshooting components connected to the ARM mbed microcontroller device. Also in 2018, they worked as a Technician 1 - Information Technology Intern at Jacobs, where they created a web page using Microsoft Excel and Visual Basic to display real-time testing configurations on the multiple software testing sets at KSC, followed project documentation processes to produce a CMMI compatible project design document and UML diagrams detailing the need, purpose, and capabilities of the web page, and coordinated requests from multiple engineering groups to provide a web page that would meet user needs and be simple to maintain and update. Finally, in 2019, they worked at Comentec as a Senior Business Integration Engineer and a Business Integration Engineer.

Benjamin Thornbloom attended Edgewood Jr/Sr High School from 2009 to 2015. In 2015, they obtained a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. In 2017, they attended Georgia Tech Lorraine to further their studies in Computer Engineering.
