Ben Hamlin

Ben Hamlin is an experienced legal professional currently serving as Chair of the Competition Law and Policy Institute of New Zealand since August 2024. Previously, Ben held various significant positions at the Commerce Commission, including Senior Legal Counsel, Chief Legal Counsel for Competition, and Principal Counsel for Consumer, where responsibilities encompassed providing legal advice related to the Commerce Act, CCCFA, and Fair Trading Act. Ben's background includes work as a Solicitor at Chapman Tripp and as an Associate at Meredith Connell, conducting trials and advising on competition and regulatory litigation. Ben is also a Barrister at Clifton Chambers and the New Zealand Bar. Educational credentials include a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Otago.
