Stephen Hudson

Principal Economist

Stephen Hudson is an accomplished economist with extensive experience in telecommunications regulation. From July 2004 to July 2010, Stephen served as a Senior Economist at the New Zealand Commerce Commission, focusing on economic input for regulatory decisions, including access terms and market monitoring frameworks. Following this role, Stephen worked as a Principal Economist at the Commerce Commission starting in September 2022, and previously as a Senior Economist at the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Bahrain from August 2010 to December 2014, where responsibilities included market assessments and competition law cases. Earlier career experience includes a role as an economist at the New Zealand Commerce Commission from February 2000 to July 2004, dealing with competition law cases and mergers in the telecommunications sector. Stephen holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Administration with Honours in Economics from Victoria University of Wellington.
