Rui Araujo

Rui Araujo has a diverse work experience in the tech industry. Rui started their career as a Software Engineer Intern at Centro de Informática Prof. Correia de Araújo in 2011 and 2012. Rui then worked as a Researcher at Technische Universität München in 2014. Rui also worked as an IT Consultant at Manuela Calado Araújo & Associados, Lda and was responsible for the development of research projects and web frontend projects. In 2016, they became the Head of Front-End Development at bonify Germany, leading a complete rebuild of the product and doubling the team size.

Rui then joined Zalando in 2017 and held various roles including Senior Software Engineer, Engineering Manager, and Senior Principal Engineer. In these roles, they introduced a new product API facade, scaled up the API governance process, and organized a Principal community within the Client Engineering organization.

In 2022, Rui moved to Typeform as a Principal Engineer. Rui was responsible for driving the engineering strategy, improving system design practices, and introducing a new postmortem approach that significantly increased the average amount of action items.

In 2023, Rui worked as a Staff Developer at Shopify and a Principal Engineer at commercetools. Throughout their career, Rui has demonstrated strong technical expertise and a focus on driving engineering excellence and team growth.

Rui Araujo earned a Master's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto, during the period of 2008-2014.
