Nick Latimer is a highly experienced public policy professional, currently serving as Assistant Secretary in both the Centre for Population and the Strategy and Engagement section of the Employment Taskforce at the Commonwealth Treasury since July 2022. Previously, Latimer held the position of Branch Manager (a/g) at the Department of Social Services, managing policies and programs related to working-age payments, and served as Director of the Participation Policy Section focused on unemployment benefits. With a substantial background at Commonwealth Treasury, Latimer managed significant initiatives, including the Intergenerational Report Taskforce and the Coronavirus Coordination Team during the COVID-19 pandemic. Additional experience includes roles at the Department of Human Services in Victoria and the Department of Premier and Cabinet, where a diverse range of policy issues, including infrastructure and intergovernmental relations, were addressed. An academic background features a Master of Public Policy from the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies and a Bachelor of Arts (First Class Honours: Politics) from Monash University.
