Derek Sharp

Derek Sharp has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Derek began their career in the United States Marine Corps, where they served as a CH-53 Pilot and later held roles as the Director of Safety and Standardization and Current Operations Officer. After leaving the military in 2015, Derek worked as an Education Assistant at Wickliffe High School, where they provided support to students and served as an assistant coach for the varsity football and baseball teams. In 2016, they transitioned to Constellation Schools, where they worked as a Social Studies Teacher. Currently, Derek serves as the Managing Director of Safety at CommutAir dba United Express, overseeing safety initiatives and developing safety programs for a commercial airline.

Derek Sharp completed their Bachelor's degree in Integrated Social Studies Education from Ohio University from 2000 to 2004. In 2004, they attended USMC Officer Candidates' School. Derek then went on to attend The Basic School for a brief period in 2004. In 2005, Derek underwent Naval Aviation Flight Training. In 2010, they attended US Navy School of Aviation Safety. In 2012, they completed the U.S. Navy Crew Resource Management Instructor Course. Additionally, in April 2007, Derek obtained a certification as a Commercial Aircraft Pilot from the U.S. Department of Transportation.
