Mike Okimoto has a long history of experience in the research community. Mike began their career in 1989 as a Research Technician at The Scripps Research Institute, where they studied the protein CR2 (CD21) and worked to create a molecular clone of the portion of CR2 that EBV binds to and express and isolate the protein in Sf9 cells. In 1998, they moved to the University of California, San Francisco, where they worked as a Post Doctoral Fellow in the lab of Dr. Jay Levy. Mike'sproject focused on identifying genes that were expressed in CD4+ T cells from long term non-progressors (LTNP). In 2000, they co-founded Biocompare, a marketplace for researchers in the Life Sciences. As Vice President of Content Development, they leveraged their experience in the research community to help create and craft the content plan for the website. In 2007, they joined Compare Networks as Chief Content Officer.
Mike Okimoto holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from UC Irvine and a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and Cell Biology from UC San Diego.
