Senior Director, Medical Science Liaisons at COMPASS Pathways

Matthew Young, Ph.D., has a diverse work experience primarily focused on medical science liaison roles. Matthew started in 2008 as a Graduate Student at the University of Pennsylvania, where they conducted research on fear learning and memory. From 2013 to 2016, they worked as a Post-Doctoral Research/Teaching Fellow at Emory University, exploring the biological bases of emotional learning. At Spelman College, they served as an Instructor from 2014 to 2016, developing curriculum in the Psychology department and teaching various courses.

In 2016, Young transitioned to industry roles, starting as a Medical Science Liaison at Shire, where they worked until 2018. Matthew then joined Alkermes as a Medical Science Liaison, progressing to the role of Senior Medical Science Liaison I. In 2021, they moved to Axsome Therapeutics, Inc., where they worked as a Senior Medical Science Liaison until 2022.

Currently, Young is employed at COMPASS Pathways as a Senior Medical Science Liaison, with a promotion to Director, Medical Science Liaison scheduled for 2023.

Matthew Young, Ph.D., earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Psychology from Arizona State University in 2008. Matthew then went on to complete their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Neuroscience at the University of Pennsylvania from 2008 to 2013.
