Jon Putnam has a diverse work experience. Jon founded and served as Principal at Competition Dynamics, Inc. starting in July 2012. Prior to that, they worked at Charles River Associates from July 2000 to June 2012, where they held the role of Vice President. Jon also worked as an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto, Faculty of Law from January 2001 to June 2005. Before that, they were a Lecturer at Boston University School of Management in 2000 and at Vassar College from 1992 to 1994.

From 1975 to 1980, Jon obtained their Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Yale University. Following this, they pursued a Master of Arts degree in Economics at the same institution, completing it from 1983 to 1985. Jon then attended Yale Law School from 1986 to 1987 as a recipient of the Mellon Foundation Fellowship in the Social Sciences. In 1990 and 1991, they attended Columbia Law School, where they participated in the Julius Silver Fellowship in Law, Science and Technology. Finally, Jon completed their educational journey by earning a Ph.D. in Economics from Yale University, which took place during the period of 1985 to 1996.
