ComplicitMatter is the independent design studio of Luis Quinones, operating at the intersection of computational systems, concept design, and future-form storytelling. We explore advanced workflows—both analog and digital—to craft speculative products, environments, and generative tools that challenge convention and expand the boundaries of design.

ComplicitMatter is both a position and a practice.

It began as a reflection on my role in the rise of computational design—a way of acknowledging that I was not just a participant, but complicit in pushing a methodology once seen as a threat to authorship, intuition, and tradition. I embraced it fully. I defended it. I built tools to extend it.

But I’m not a purist.

The name is a synthesis: computational and explicit. Procedural systems and manual craft. Generative logic and human judgment. The most powerful work comes from the friction between those forces—not from choosing sides.

At ComplicitMatter, I concept directly in 3D as often as I sketch—shifting fluidly between 2D composition and volumetric thinking. I experiment with unconventional digital workflows to prototype ideas quickly and uncover unexpected directions early. Computational methods are integrated deeply, but never dominate. They’re just one part of a broader creative practice grounded in curiosity, adaptability, and systems thinking.

Design isn’t about aligning with a toolset. It’s about choosing the right language for the right moment—and sometimes inventing a new one entirely.

ComplicitMatter is where code and intuition collaborate. Where process is not a constraint, but a canvas.
