Abbie Groff

Associate Director, Head of Computational Biology at Conception

Abbie Groff has a diverse work experience in the field of computational biology, molecular biology, and bioinformatics. Abbie is currently working at Conception as the Associate Director and Head of Computational Biology. Prior to that, they were a Senior Bioinformatics Scientist at Conception, where they likely played a significant role in the computational analysis of biological data.

Abbie's prior experience includes working as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Whitehead Institute, where they contributed to research projects in the field of biology. Before that, they were a Molecular/Computational Biologist at Harvard University, where they developed computational methods and analyzed RNAseq data from multiple lincRNA knockout mouse lines. Additionally, in this role, they designed and performed Massively Parallel Reporter Assays.

Earlier in their career, Abbie worked as a Research Technician at Stanford University Medical Center, where they characterized the mechanism of a long noncoding RNA associated with human skin differentiation. Abbie conducted various molecular and cellular biology research experiments using techniques such as qRT-PCR, RNA Interactome Analysis, and RNA half-life analysis.

Abbie also has experience working as a K-12 tutor at Zenith Tutoring, where they helped students with Biology, Chemistry, Math, and AP US History. In addition, they prepared students for the SAT.

Furthermore, Abbie has worked as a Research Assistant at Stanford University School of Medicine, where they conducted Molecular/Cell Biology research in cancer biology and genomics. Abbie also had a summer research internship at Agilent Technologies, where they tested sample prep workflows for protein identification in mass spectrum analysis in the Agilent marketing lab.

Overall, Abbie Groff's work experience demonstrates their expertise in computational biology, bioinformatics, and molecular biology, with a strong focus on research and data analysis.

Abbie Groff completed their education with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Systems Biology from the Harvard Kenneth C. Griffin Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. This was achieved between 2012 and 2018. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Cellular/Molecular Biology from Stanford University, graduating between 2007 and 2011. Abbie's secondary education took place at Conestoga Valley Senior High School, where they completed their high school education between 2003 and 2007.
