Senior Scientist at Conception

Tisha Bohr has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Tisha started their career in the food service industry, where they worked in cashier, server, bartender, and management positions at various restaurants for over 10 years. During this time, they developed important skills such as time management, organizational, teamwork, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

In 2009, Tisha interned as a Summer Research Intern at Trinity College Dublin, where they conducted independent scientific research focused on understanding the molecular basis leading to differences in the vertebrate body plan during development of mouse and chicks. Tisha also presented their research findings orally.

Following their internship, Tisha worked as an Assistant Undergraduate Chemistry Stockroom Manager at the University of California, Santa Barbara. In this role, they managed undergraduate employees and organized materials and waste management for over fifty chemistry labs per week.

In 2010, Tisha joined the University of California, Santa Cruz, where they held multiple roles. Tisha worked as a Teaching Assistant for the Genetics Lecture course, where they developed and delivered curriculum, lectures, and assignments. Tisha also provided tutoring and assistance to students during office hours and conducted review sessions for test preparation. Additionally, they served as a Teaching Assistant for the Genetics Lab course, co-facilitating the lab and providing assessment and feedback on student projects. Tisha also worked as a Graduate Research Assistant, where they designed and executed independent scientific research projects focusing on cellular division using a model organism. Tisha mentored graduate and undergraduate students in their own research projects during this time as well.

In 2016, Tisha joined Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Molecular Medicine. In this role, they designed innovative experimental approaches to understand how stem cells respond to organ loss in vivo. Tisha managed multiple independent projects, meeting demanding funding and publication deadlines. Tisha'swork resulted in one first-author publication and two co-authored publications.

Tisha also worked as a Research Facilitator at the Marine Biological Laboratory in 2017. In this position, they co-organized and co-designed a two-week intensive lab course in neuronal cell biology, focusing on the effects of neurotoxins on the planarian nervous system. Tisha also co-facilitated the lab course for graduate students and postdocs.

Currently, Tisha is employed at Conception, where they started in 2021. Tisha began as a Scientist and later transitioned to the role of Senior Scientist. Further details about their current role and responsibilities are not provided.

Tisha Bohr completed their education at the University of California, Santa Cruz, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology from 2010 to 2016. Prior to their doctoral studies, they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, General from California State University Channel Islands, which they attended from 2006 to 2009.

In addition to their academic degrees, Tisha Bohr has obtained a number of certifications. Tisha completed the CU-CIRTL Building Mentoring Skills for an Academic Career Certificate Program and the Postdoc Leadership Certificate Program at Cornell University in March 2018. Tisha also earned the CIRTL Associate Certificate at Cornell University in September 2017.

Tisha completed the Diversity and Inclusion Certificate Program in June 2015 and obtained the Institute for Science and Engineer Educators Certificate in Teaching Innovative Laboratory Experiences in January 2015. Tisha also earned the Graduate Student Leadership Certificate Program in March 2013 and the STEM Diversity and CBSE Research Mentoring Institute Programs Mentor Training Certificate in September 2012.
