Laura Beckwith

Laura Beckwith has a diverse work experience spanning over many years. Laura started their professional career as an Intern at Metropolitan Life in 1997. From there, they worked as an Associate Software Engineer at Veramark Technologies Inc from 1998 to 2000. Laura then transitioned to Oregon State University, where they worked as a Graduate Research Assistant from 2000 to 2007.

In 2007, Laura joined Microsoft Corp as a User Experience Researcher in the Developer Division - Visual Studio, where they conducted formative usability studies and collaborated with product teams to improve designs. Laura worked there from 2007 to 2008.

Laura then joined HCI Researcher as a User Experience Consultant in 2010 and continued to work there until 2023. Additionally, in 2010, Laura also became a part of Configit as a UX Lead. In 2017, they moved into the role of Product Manager for Configit Ace, and they continue to inform the direction of Ace in collaboration with customers and colleagues. In 2023, they further transitioned to become the Director of Product Management at Configit.

Throughout their career, Laura Beckwith has gained a strong background in user experience research, product management, and leadership roles.

Laura Beckwith earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Physics from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in the years 1994 to 1998. Laura later went on to pursue a Masters degree in Computer Science at Oregon State University from 2000 to 2002. Laura further continued their education at Oregon State University and obtained a Ph.D. in Computer Science with a specialization in Human-Computer Interaction from 2003 to 2007.
