Simon Arnell has held various roles in the tech industry since 2004. From 2004-2007, they were an IT Support Technician at Collingwood College. In 2007, they were a Quality Assurance Engineer at Yospace, a Bauer company. From 2008-2010, they held the role of Technology Risk Management Research Officer at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Information Security Researcher at National Grid. From 2015-2017, they were Chief Technologist at Hewlett Packard Enterprise. From 2017-2018, they were Chief Technologist at DXC Technology. Since 2018, they have been Chief Executive Officer & Co-Founder, Chief Operating Officer & Co-Founder, and Co-Founder and Non-Executive Director at Configured Things, which was a member of the 2018 GCHQ/NCSC Cyber Accelerator.

Simon Arnell obtained a BSc in Computer Science from Royal Holloway, University of London in 2007 and an MSc in Information Security from the same institution in 2008. Simon then obtained a Certificate of Cloud Security Knowledge v2.1 from the Cloud Security Alliance in 2012, followed by a Certified Information Systems Security Professional from (ISC)2 in 2013. In 2019, they obtained an Amazon Web Services Cloud Practitioner from Amazon Web Services (AWS). In 2020, they obtained an Amazon Web Services Security Specialty from AWS. In 2021, they obtained a Cradlepoint Certified Developer, Cradlepoint Certified Network Associate, Cradlepoint Certified Network Expert Theory, Cradlepoint Certified Network Professional, and Cradlepoint Certified Sales Associate, all from Cradlepoint.
