Nick Dearden

Nick Dearden is a seasoned technology executive currently serving as Field CTO and Senior Director of the Advanced Technology Group at Confluent since January 2024, following a prior role as Engineering Director at the same company from September 2016 to July 2019. Dearden has extensive experience in data platforms, having worked as Senior Director at Auction.com, where analytic techniques were applied to optimize marketing initiatives and auction outcomes. Prior positions include Chief Architect at Tidemark Systems, Director of Software Engineering at both Oracle and Hyperion Solutions, and Development Manager at Business Objects. Dearden co-founded Blue Edge Software, serving as CTO and successfully growing the company before its acquisition by BusinessObjects. Early career experience includes consultancy in Business Intelligence at GA Information Systems in the UK. Dearden holds a BA (Hons) in Economics and Politics from the University of Leeds, completed in 1992.
