Robert Metzger is a highly experienced software engineer currently serving as a Staff Software Engineer II at Confluent since February 2024. With a significant background in open source development, Robert has been a Committer and Project Management Committee (PMC) member for the Apache Flink Project since April 2014, and a member of the Apache Software Foundation. Robert has co-founded and held various engineering roles at Ververica, contributing to the development of Apache Flink. Prior to these roles, Robert gained experience as a Student Research Assistant at TU Berlin and had internships at IBM. Robert holds a Master of Science in Computer Science from Technische Universität Berlin and a Bachelor's degree in Applied Computer Science from DHBW Stuttgart. Robert is also an accomplished presenter, having shared expertise on Flink at numerous conferences and meetups globally.
