Utz Schäffer is a Professor and Director of the Institute of Management Accounting and Control at WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management. They have served as Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Accounting Section of the German Association for Business Research from 2020 to 2022. Prior to their current role, they were an Associate Dean of Research at EBS Universität für Wirtschaft und Recht and worked as a Consultant at McKinsey & Company. Currently, Utz is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees at ICV International Association of Controllers and has held various academic positions at WHU since 2007. They earned a Diplom-Kaufmann degree in Business Administration and Management from WHU from 1989 to 1993.
