conflux9 is a project we are building in public.

Whether you're building a data warehouse or a lakehouse, we believe in building it on business requirements, by design. When requirements and implementation stay in sync automatically, the warehouse keeps pace with the business instead of lagging behind.

Today, most of the effort goes into data modeling, ETL, and orchestration. What the market calls "Data Warehouse Automation" mechanizes only the lower technical layers. The logical model above them, often a Data Vault model, is still built, or at least reviewed, by hand, and every business rule is written against it. That is the hardest part of the technical work, and today's approach makes it unavoidable.

We are exploring a different starting point: the conceptual model. You define business objects, their relationships, metrics, and KPIs, and you write the logic in SQL against those objects, not against Data Vault tables. Everything below is derived from that definition: the Data Vault modeling, which you would otherwise do by hand, is completely automated. This includes its logical model, its physical model, the data transformations, and the orchestration. Because the model is text-based, it is Git-native: versionable, diffable, and open to code review. When the definition changes, the implementation changes with it.

conflux9 is still in development, and we share the reasoning, the decisions, and the progress as they happen. If you build data warehouses, or want to, we are interested in your perspective. Follow along here, tell us what you would challenge, and watch the solution take shape.
