Scott Handler has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Scott started their career as a State Traffic Officer at the California Highway Patrol from 1981 to 1985. Scott then joined the United States Navy in 1986, where they served as a Naval Aviator and Captain, eventually becoming the Commanding Officer for VR-55 at NAS Point Mugu, CA. Currently, they are a member of the Denver NOSC Funeral Honors Team.
In 1996, Scott joined United Airlines as a Pilot and Instructor, responsible for training current and newly hired UAL pilots. Scott also maintains currency and proficiency by flying the line each month.
Scott is actively involved in the music industry as well. Scott is a Bach Trumpet Artist for Conn-Selmer, Inc., and has been since 2014. Scott has been with Groove 'N Motion, Colorado's premier powerhouse variety band since 2017, where they serve as "The Captain" Leader/Musical Director, Lead Trumpet, and Flugelhorn player.
In addition, Scott co-leads and co-founded the Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra, Inc., where they hold the position of Executive Director. Scott manages all aspects of this small non-profit, including finances, personnel, logistics, and advertising/marketing. Scott is also the lead trumpet player for the orchestra.
