Amy Sands

Amy Sands is an Emerita Staff member at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies (MIIS) and a National Security Consultant. Three years ago, they retired as the Executive Director for Research Centers and Initiatives at MIIS, after serving eight years as provost and two and a half years as dean of the Graduate School of International Policy Studies. Previously, Amy held the position of Deputy Director of the Center for Nonproliferation Studies for seven years and served as Assistant Director at the U.S. Arms Control and Disarmament Agency, where they received multiple accolades for their service. Currently, they volunteer as a Board of Directors member for the Gathering for Women, supporting homeless women in the Monterey community. Additionally, Amy is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the World Affairs Council of Monterey.
