Joan Spaw is a Senior Consultant currently self-employed, specializing in shale and carbonate petrology, sedimentology, and CT scan analysis of cores. They served as an Advanced Senior Geologist at Marathon Oil Company from 2006 until their retirement in 2018, where they were recognized as a subject matter expert in sedimentary petrology. Joan earned a Ph.D. and an M.A. in Geology from Rice University, as well as an A.B. in Geology from Bryn Mawr College.
