Legal Intern

Madeline Martinez has a diverse work experience in the legal field. Madeline started as a Workers' Compensation Paralegal at the Law Offices of Joseph Romano P.C. in 2017, where they drafted requests for action and advocated for clients in administrative hearings. In the same year, they also took on the role of a Board Governance Assistant at 513-517 West 135th Street Housing Development Fund Corporation, providing administrative support to the board of directors.

In 2018, Madeline became a Housing Law Paralegal at the Northern Manhattan Improvement Corporation (NMIC). Their responsibilities included assisting Manhattan residents involved in evictions and providing legal guidance on housing and income subsidy programs. Madeline worked there until 2020.

Madeline's next role was as a Summer Legal Intern at Communities Resist, Inc. (CoRe), where they supported the Director of Litigation in preparing legal research memoranda for housing litigation cases. Madeline also served as a Summer Legal Intern at the New York City Housing Development Corporation, where they gained valuable experience in affordable housing issues.

In 2021, Madeline joined Brooklyn Law School as a Research Assistant and Clinic Intern. As a research assistant, they worked for Professor David Reiss, and as a clinic intern, they represented community development organizations, drafting corporate formation documents and gaining proficiency in relevant laws.

Madeline's experience continued in 2022 when they worked as a Law Clerk at Goldstein Hall PLLC, specializing in real estate law. Madeline also had the opportunity to work as a Legal Extern at the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA), preparing research memoranda on various legal issues.

In 2023, Madeline joined the Bill Drafting Division Clinic Intern at the New York City Council, where they gained experience in legislative work.

Finally, Madeline recently started as a Legal Intern at Consigli Construction Co., Inc. in 2022, focusing on legal matters related to construction.

Throughout their various roles, Madeline has developed skills in legal research, drafting, client advocacy, and knowledge of housing and construction law.

Madeline Martinez's education history consists of multiple degrees and coursework in various fields. Starting in 2020, Madeline attended Brooklyn Law School and is expected to graduate in 2023 with a Doctor of Law (JD) degree, specializing in Public Interest, Community Development & Real Estate Law. In 2019, Madeline completed professional development coursework in Corporate Finance at New York University.

Prior to this, Madeline pursued a Master of Public Policy (MPP) degree at Georgetown University from 2010 to 2012, focusing on Policy and Development. Madeline's undergraduate education took place at Barnard College, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from 2004 to 2009. Their field of study at Barnard College was Comparative Politics and Human Rights.

Before entering college, Madeline attended Stuyvesant High School from 2000 to 2004, where they received a NYS Regents & High School Diploma in General Studies.
