James Taylor has over 30 years of work experience in technology consulting, solutions architecture, and systems analysis. James started their career in 1987 as a Sr. Programmer/Analyst at Prime Health, where they oversaw and managed projects for programming staff. From 1991 to 1996, they worked at Business Mens Assurance as a Systems Analyst and Senior Programmer, performing systems analysis and design for an insurance and annuity billing and claims system.
In 1996, Taylor joined Serco - North America as a Solutions Architect, where they were responsible for project management and the development of financial systems for the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board. James worked closely in a team environment to build requirements, assign and perform development tasking, and coordinate with a test team.
Taylor then moved to SAIC in 2014, where they continued their role as a Solutions Architect, working on the TESS project for the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board. James managed the project and developed financial systems to support the Thrift Savings Plan.
In 2017, Taylor joined Sprout Solutions as the Chief Technology Officer, overseeing the development of web-based tools and systems for feed mills and commodity merchandisers in the agricultural industry. This included software platforms for position management, transfers, settlements, contracts, and analytics.
Since 2015, Taylor has also been working as an independent contractor, serving as a Technology Consultant for the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board. In this role, they have led development projects, designed and developed financial systems using JAVA, JSP, and SQL Server, and transitioned on-prem applications to the AWS cloud.
Throughout their career, Taylor has demonstrated expertise in various technologies, including Cold Fusion, Visual Studio, COBOL II, CICS, and PICK BASIC. James has strong project management skills and is experienced in coordinating with teams and planning software releases.
James Taylor attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City from 1986 to 1989, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Business with a specialization in Computer-Based Information Systems. In addition to their degree, they also hold certifications in project management. James obtained the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI) in February 2007, and the PMI-Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) certification from the same institution in December 2012.
