Mark Wiencek is a Principal Microbiologist at Contec, Inc., since May 2017, providing microbiological support for healthcare applications including tools, chemistries, and diagnostics. Prior to this role, Wiencek served as Development Manager for Antimicrobials at Milliken & Company from August 1999 to May 2017, leading a team in the development and technical support of biocides for various applications, including textiles and medical devices, with over fifteen years of experience in EPA- and BPR-regulated environments. Wiencek holds a PhD in Microbiology from the University of Maryland, a Master’s degree in Food Microbiology from North Carolina State University, and a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology from the University of North Carolina Wilmington.
