Ryan Singel is a Co-Founder of Outpost Publishers Cooperative, established in May 2021, which focuses on membership-driven media sites and supports the development of subscription and newsletter-driven publications. Singel also serves as an Open Internet Fellow at the Center for Internet and Society at Stanford Law School since September 2017 and is the Founder of Contextly, a company that utilizes machine-learning to enhance audience engagement for publishers. Previously, from 2002 to November 2012, Singel worked as an Editor at WIRED, covering topics such as security, privacy, and tech policy, while also co-founding the award-winning Threat Level section. Singel holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Vassar College and a Master of Arts degree from the University of Chicago.
