Continuo Foundation is an innovative charity helping the UK early music sector and its musicians to flourish, and to bring live music to people across the UK. We do this through project grants and our Continuo Connect digital platform: www.ContinuoConnect.com

Period music is particularly well suited for engaging audiences new to classical music. All freelancers, the musicians who have chosen this field are not only playing at the highest level, but are also steeped in knowledge about their music, instruments and history, based on their own research. They love to share this knowledge and are always happy to speak with audiences - and to demonstrate their instruments. When combined with being able to perform in local venues (village halls, pubs, churches, parks) which are not intimidating, these small period-instrument ensembles are able to make an outsized impact in inspiring new audiences and making culture an accessible part of the social fabric of a community.
