Dr. Matt Todd currently serves as Director at Control Risks since July 2022, having previously held roles as Associate Director and Hostage and Crisis Negotiator and Senior Consultant. Prior experience includes a lengthy tenure at Greater Manchester Police from December 2005 to August 2022 as a Hostage and Crisis Negotiator and in Major Crime Investigation. Dr. Todd also worked within the Metropolitan Police from 2005 to 2007 in various policing roles and spent fourteen years with Cheshire Police from 1991 to 2005 specializing in policing and specialist policing duties. Academically, Dr. Todd earned a PhD in Hostage and Crisis Negotiation from The Manchester Metropolitan University between 2016 and 2023, in addition to a Master's degree in Criminal Justice from Leicester University (Scarman Centre) from 1996 to 1999.
