John Phinney

Chairman & CEO at Convergence

John Phinney is the Chairman & CEO at Convergence. Prior to this, they were the Chief Financial Officer-Apollo Fund Group at Apollo Global Management LLC from March 2008 to March 2013. There, they designed, developed, implemented and managed the Investment Operations, Risk Management, Fund Accounting and Information Technology functions that supported Apollo's rapid asset growth, expansion into new geographies, launch of new product lines and integration of multiple acquisitions. The firm's assets grew in a controlled and efficient manner from $40bn in 2008 to $160bn across Private Equity, Capital Markets, Natural Resources and Real Estate. John was also a member of Apollo's Capital Markets Valuation Committee (Chairman), Investment Practices Committee, Operating Committee and Technology Steering Committee.

Before their time at Apollo Global Management LLC, John Phinney was the Vice President & Director of Alternative Investment Operations at Fidelity Investments from January 1994 to December 1996. John was also the Chief Financial Officer-Various Divisions at J.P. Morgan from January 1983 to December 2004. Lastly, they served as the Chief Financial & Operating Officer & Partner at The Rohatyn Group from January 2004 to December 2008.

John Phinney has a BSBA in Accounting from Suffolk University - Sawyer Business School, and they are also a graduate of Officer Candidate School and the Platoon Leaders Course from the United States Marine Corps. John also has a degree in Criminal Justice from Northeastern University.
