Heather Sawyer

Heather Sawyer is the Special Counsel at Cooley LLP, where they advise clients on complex congressional and governmental risk management issues. Previously, Heather held prominent legal roles, including Staff Director and Chief Counsel for the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate Judiciary Committee, managing teams and developing legislative strategies on sensitive matters. Heather also served as Senior Counsel at Lambda Legal, litigating significant civil rights cases, and as Executive Director of American Oversight, leading efforts to advance accountability and transparency in government. They have a J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School and a B.A. from Dartmouth College.
