Sean Murphy

Sean Murphy is a partner at Cooley LLP in Singapore, specializing in the formation and operation of private funds across various strategies, including venture capital, growth equity, buy-out, special situations, real estate, and infrastructure. Prior to joining Cooley LLP in January 2021, Sean served as counsel at Shearman & Sterling LLP from April 2018 to January 2021, and held associate positions at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP from August 2014 to March 2018, and at Jones Day from September 2008 to August 2014. Sean began a legal career as a legal assistant at Hunton & Williams LLP in 2004. Sean holds a JD with honors from The George Washington University Law School and a BA in International Relations, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Pennsylvania. Additional education includes studies at Peking University, Columbia University, and East China Normal University.
