William Newsom

William Newsom is a Partner in the Fund Formation practice group at Cooley LLP, having progressed from Special Counsel in the same group. In addition to legal practice, Newsom serves as Secretary on the Board of Directors for the Simama Project, which focuses on providing educational opportunities to children in Nanyuki, Kenya. Also involved with CommunityGrows as an Advisory Board Member, Newsom supports an initiative that educates high-needs youth in San Francisco about healthy living and green jobs. Previous experience includes roles as an Associate in antitrust and commercial litigation, a Graduate Research Fellow exploring European patent courts, and various positions focusing on legal research and assistance. Newsom holds a JD from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from UCLA.
