Steve McLaughlin

President

Steve McLaughlin is an accomplished academic leader currently serving as President of The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art since July 2025. Prior to this role, Steve held various positions at Georgia Institute of Technology from 1996, including Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dean of the College of Engineering, and the Steve Chaddick School Chair in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Steve also contributed as Vice Provost for International Initiatives and has held numerous academic appointments, such as Assistant Professor at the Rochester Institute of Technology and consulting roles at Booz Allen Hamilton and AT&T. An expert in electrical and electronics engineering, Steve earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Northwestern University, a Master of Science from Princeton University, and a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Michigan.
