Henry Cortes

CEO & Founder at Core Development Group

Henry Cortes is the Founder and Owner of Core Development Group and is responsible for the company’s strategic growth and daily operations in the United States, Atlantic, and Pacific Islands. Prior to joining the company, he held the position of Vice President of Project Management for BayWa r.e. Solar Projects, a global leader in the renewable energy market. Cortes is leading the expansion efforts of Core Development Group in the renewable energy industry, such as the solar energy, storage, and microgrid markets.

Cortes brings a significant amount of real-world experience to Core Development Group in project development and construction with over 28 years of general construction experience. He is also experienced in project finance, construction science, business development, managing of leadership teams, and operational processes across a range of industries. Previously, he served as the Owner/Operator of a large electrical contracting firm focused on commercial installations and a general contracting firm focused on real estate development and investments throughout New Jersey. He began his career in the electrical construction trade in 1990.

Cortes studied industrial electric at the Passaic County Technical Institute from 1988 – 1992. He holds a B.S. from the William Paterson University and an M.B.A. from Ramapo College. He holds a Master Electrical license in the State of NJ and is certified by The National American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP), certified by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), and certified by the Project Management Institute (PMP). He is fluent in Spanish, English and conversational in Portuguese.
