Derek Thomas

Derek Thomas has more than 15 years of work experience in various roles, primarily in the field of computational engineering and sciences. Derek is currently the Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder of Coreform, a position they have held since September 2014. Prior to this, they served as the Chief Executive Officer of Coreform from June 2015 to October 2016.

Derek also worked as a JTO Faculty Fellow at the Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences (ICES) from August 2014 to June 2015. Before joining ICES, they were a Visiting Assistant Professor at Brigham Young University from January 2012 to August 2014.

Derek'sresearch career began in 2005 at Brigham Young University, where they worked as a Computer/Multimedia Support and later as an Undergraduate Research Assistant until August 2007. From September 2007 to August 2008, Derek served as a Graduate Research Assistant at the same university.

In September 2008, they joined the University of Texas at Austin as a Graduate Research Assistant and continued their work until January 2012.

Finally, Derek obtained their highest level of education, a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, which they completed from 2008 to 2012.
