Vern Paxson

Co-Founder & Chief Scientist at Corelight

Vern Paxson is a Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at UC Berkeley, and the Director of the Networking and Security Group at ICSI. Vern is also the Co-Founder and Chief Scientist at Corelight.

Paxson's research interests are in network measurement, Internet protocols, and network security. Vern has published over 200 papers in these areas. Their paper "Bro: A System for Detecting Network Intruders in Real-Time" (with Paul Barford) won the USENIX Security Best Paper Award in 1999. Paxson is a member of the ACM and the IEEE.

Vern Paxson received their Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science from UC Berkeley's Electrical Engineering & Computer Sciences department.

Vern Paxson reports to Brian Dye, CEO & Board Member. They are on a team with Julie Parrish - Chief Marketing Officer, Gregory Bell - Co-Founder & Chief Strategy Officer, and Robin Sommer - Co-Founder & Open Source Lead.
